Cabinets and user interface

Two cabinet sizes cover the range: a 13U wall-mount and a 24U floor-standing. Each supports universal rack frame assemblies, touchscreen GUIs, power supplies and module cards.

The primary GUI is a 9-inch touchscreen carrying the menu system plus common and individual controls and indicators for emergency zones. Secondary GUIs add further zone controls as required — up to 4 on the 13U and 8 on the 24U.

Intercom and audio

The intercom supports two interface types to the warden handsets. Radial, point-to-point wiring runs a single pair to each handset, each with a remote buzzer output for handsets inside a security enclosure. The fault-tolerant loop wires handsets in a loop to save install time and cable, on a two-wire design with a short-circuit isolator at every handset. Each handset also has a connection for an emergency alarm initiating device.

Audio is digital throughout, including across the network. Alert and evacuation tones are generated in software while pre-recorded messages are stored as audio files and distributed per the programmed configuration. Audio mapping software routes any source or file to any amplifier, which is what allows multiple alert and evacuation messages to run as part of a phased sequence. Background music inputs are supported for non-emergency use.

How big can an EvacU^Elite system get?

The software supports up to 512 emergency zones and 1024 warden handsets, across up to 64 nodes in a fault-tolerant loop network. A 24U cabinet takes 5 universal rack frames and 8 GUIs; a 13U wall-mount takes 2 rack frames and 4 GUIs.

What is the advantage of the loop intercom?

Handsets are wired in a loop rather than point-to-point, which saves install time and cable. The design is two-wire, against four-wire configurations elsewhere in the market, and every handset carries a short-circuit isolator so the rest of the loop keeps working through a short. If the loop is broken the system identifies which two WIP addresses the break sits between.

Does it work with non-Ampac fire panels?

Yes. There is a high-level interface to the Ampac FireFinder^PLUS, and third-party fire detection systems connect through low-level hardwired inputs. A Bosch Praesensa high-level interface is supported via the public address interface card.

Can evacuation sequences be tested before commissioning?

The PC configuration tool includes a sequence builder and an integrated simulator, so sequences can be configured and tested before site commissioning, then sent to a single panel over USB or across the network.
