Markup

The amount added to your cost to reach the sale price, as a percentage of cost.

Markup is how much you add on top of what something cost you: a 50% markup on a $1,000 cost gives a $1,500 price. It’s measured against cost, which is why a 50% markup is only a 33% margin — confusing the two quietly erodes profit.
